Pirate Radio Logs – July 16-17, 2009

All logging’s harvested via Perseus dirft net.

Outhouse Radio, 6925.08 USB, 2344 – excellent signal strength but modulation slightly distorted making for tough listening. Multiple espisodes of the old radio program Have Gun Will Travel, complete with old commercials. “This is Outhouse Radio taking you back to yesteryear” at 0058 UTC and off.

Radio Ga-Ga, 6925 USB, 0104 – rather poor signal, SSTV interference. Transmission began with SSTV image, into a couple of songs that I was undable to ID. Final SSTC image at 0124 then Radio Ga-Ga voice ID.

Long Range Radio, 6925, 0220 – fair signal, playing trademark Warren Zevon songs. Radar signature fx and “Long Range Radio: ID at 0226 UTC back to Warren Zevon tunes.

WEAK Radio, 6930 USB, 0255 – variable signal, noted repeated “WEAK Radio” ID’s over a mix of Fly Like an Eagle and other song. ID at 0312 UTC and off.

UnID, 6950 USB, 0302 – moderate signal, play-list including Nina Simone, Bob Marley and Etta James. No ID heard and off at 0321 UTC.

UnID, 6925 USB, 0326 – poor signal, play-list including Gloria, Thin Lizzy’s The Cowboy Song, I Fought the Law. Off at 0339 with no ID or announcements.

WEAK Radio, 6930 USB, 0410 – faded up with excellent signal. Song list included Brand New Key, Cocaine, Midnight Rambler, Shakey Ground and I Hear You Knocking. Began fading down at 0430 UTC. Faded back up later Dinah-moe Humm by Zappa, Smart Patrol by Devo, Underpass by John Foxx.

UnID, 6925 USB, 0433 + various – unID station heard multiple time during the night, always starting their set with “They Don’t Know About Us” song. Never any announcements or ID’s. I assume this was the same station hard at 0822 UTC with long clip from a movie.
