Radio Amica, 7550.54v AM, 2246-0304 – Nice reception of Euro-pirate Radio Amica. French talks by man and woman, techno music. This is my first Euro pirate reception since DXing pirates again starting back in May. New station!

KUSA, 6925 USB, 0120 – wide variety of music, ID’s with email address. Poor to fair.

Random Radio, 6925 USB, 0204 – Friday’s Three Song Shuffle from the ipod. New station!

Wolverine Radio, 6925 USB, 0132 – excellent program of The Clash songs such as This Is Radio Clash, Train in Vain, Police On My Back, Brand New Cadillac and lots more. Two SSTV images at 0216. Great signal!

KUSA North American, 6925 AM, *1041-1107* – Nice program of all Sunday themed songs such as Pleasant Valley Sunday, Easy Like a Sunday Morning and Groovin’ on a Sunday Afternoon. Nice signal with a few fades.

Radio Ga-Ga, 6925 USB, *1239 – opening with Free For All by Nugent then some Billy Preston, Superfly theme song, Space Oddity by Bowie and more. Lots of fading and noise on this early morning reception.

Slacking, but new QSLs arrived

I’ve really been slacking on DXing the pirates the last few weeks. I been spending most of my DX time lately on shortwave broadcast DX. But Elvis hasn’t left the building.

WBNY, 6924.7v AM, 0014-0035* – tough signal, lots of local electrical QRN. Signal drifting downwards the entire listening time. Beatles songs, Commander Bunny, “Ninety-nine” repeated often. Porky Pig’s “That’s All Folks” at 0034 UTC, WBNY news “theme music” and off.

Radio Ga-Ga, 6930 USB, *0022-0042* – weak signal with significant local QRN/ On with SSTV image then a bunch of dance-themed tunes: Let’s Dance, Let’s Do the Twist, Do The Locomotion, Macarena. 2 final SSTV images at 0039 and 0041 UTC, ID and off.

M-A-C Shortwave, 5850.8v AM, 0043 – transmitter on, MAC interval signal, time pips into the Paul Starr Show. Paul playing oldies such as Hang on Sloopy and Do Wah Diddy and a bunch of other oldies. “The Pirate’s Life For Me” song and off at 0136.

Voice of KAOS, 6925 USB, 0129 – weak signal, sounds like another station underneath. KAOS with log-on announcement, then Born To Be Wild, Wild Horses, Whole Lotta Love. KAOS mentiong a new QSL!

Outhouse Radio, 6930v USB, 0156 – generally a good signal, but alot of drifting from 6930.7 and down to right about 6930. Dirty Laundry, Let The Good Times Roll, Fly Like and Eagle, Rocket Man and more. Signal stabilized right above 6930 by the end of the broadcast.

Radio Station XXP, 6925 USB, *0219 – variable signal, but able to make out clear ID’s and the music. “Plundering the airwaves” ID’s, email, Jukebox Hero, Rare Earth, Led Zeppelin. Here is an audio clip of the sign-on.

WTCR, 6925 USB, 0249 – very nice signal with great audio! Sign on with 20′th Century Fox theme music, ID and then Whiskey Train by Procol Harum, Daydream by Robin Trower, then Joe Cocker, Earth Wind & Fire, Pretenders, Steely Dan.

WEAK Radio, 6930 USB, *0426-0626* – excellent signal, except for a long fade-out starting at 0505 UTC. An excellent broadcast ton of excellent music in this 2 hour marathon: Ben Harper, Led Zeppelin, Edwyn Collins, MC5, Sly & the Family Stone and tons more.

QSLs A hearty thank you to Dr. Morbius at WTCR for sending a paper QSL in the mail! A total surprise, it is always nice getting physical QSLs! I will post it as soon as I get my scanner hooked back up. Thank ya, Dr. Morbius!

An extremely fookin’ nice surprise was two awesome QSL’s from Captain Ganja for my reception of Radio Free Euphoria! I think that is my first bozo related QSL, lol! Thanks a ton Captain Ganja, Radio Free Euphoria is my ~~39′th~~ 40′th different pirate station QSL’d! (I realized tonight that I didn’t have my old WREC QSL from P.J. Sparx on the list, image coming soon!)

I unfortunately lost the contents of my inbox a few days ago, and lost a couple of QSLs before I saved them to disk. Emails being sent out asking for replacements…

My 13′th Radio Ga-Ga QSL was one that I lost on the day the inbox died. Many thanks to D.J. for re-sending it!

Pirate Radio Logs + QSLs – July 11-12, 2009

Outhouse Radio 6925 USB, 1524 – much better late morning reception of Outhouse Radio than I had last night. I believe Outhouse is relaying another station (Pirate Radio USA), but not got a positive ID on that. I did get a few clear Outhouse ID’s though. Set included CCR, Elton John, ZZ Top. Outhouse also kindly played Sabbath’s N.I.B., oh yeah! Thanks Outhouse!

Barnyard Radio, 6925 USB, 1627 – excellent noon reception! Set including AC/DC, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen, Bon Jovi and multiple IDs, off at 1655 UTC.

Outhouse Radio (tentative), 6925 USB, 1655 – I believe this should be Outhouse Radio re-broadcasting Pirate Radio USA. No Outhouse ID heard yet, so marking this tentative.

Outhouse Radio, 6925 USB, 2118 – highly variable signal with much fading. Set included Rush, Foreigner, April Wine and Ozzy.

Radio Free Mars, 6924.3v USB, 2212 – good signal with significant drifting. Mr. Martian mix (audio clip) played a few times, the song Would I Lie To You heard at 2223, then George Carlin’s hilarious “Things to think about” routine. Off with Mr. Martian mix.

M-A-C Shortwave, 6850.8 AM, 2257 – very poor signal at tune in. MAC interval signal, could make out Ultraman at 2301 UTC.

“All Aboard”, 6925 AM, 2334 – “All aboard, all aboard”.. “2-7-2-0-3″.. “authenticate”.. “please confirm!”… Off at 2340 UTC. This one last heard May 24.

UnID, 6925 USB, 2344 – far signal, tune in to “Three Dollar Bill Boys” song, off at 2348 UTC or faded.

Radio Ga-Ga, 6930 USB, 0000 – very weak signal, on with SSTV image. I could make out Low Rider and Play That Funky Music Whote Boy.

YRTK, 6952.9v LSB, 0028 – good signal, drifting a bit. ID by Lucy at tune in, into Frank Zappa music. David Bowie, ID and email and off.

KUSA, 6925 USB, 0057 – very weak signal, tuned in to email address then God Bless the USA song and off.

Radio Casablanca, 6939.9v AM, 0116 – signing on with La Marseillaise interval signal then full anthem. “You are tuned to Radio Casablanca” ID into oldies Knock On Wood, Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree.

Polka Dot Rhino Radio, 6925.03 USB, 0152 – very weak signal but clear audio. Knocking On Heaven’s Door by Guns n Roses, Ramble On by Led Zeppelin.

Radio Marlene (tentative), 6925 USB, 0234 – fair peaks but deeps fades, only a tentative ID heard. Others on FRN got a good ID, so this should be Radio Marlene. Playlist included Rick Derringer, Talking Heads, Neil Young and Billy Idol.

Dead Cat Radio, 6925 USB, 0311 – great signal, set included a bunch of Thin Lizzy songs, then Stray Cat Strut and Belinda Carlisle. ID and off at 0332.

QSLs Woah, tons of QSLs in the Disgraceland inbox today! I believe this is the most pirate QSLs that I have received in one day… and the day isn’t over yet!

Many thanks to Radio Station XXP with their quick response to my report of last nights ‘Walk the Plank’ show. That chick kin to the one Obama and Sorkozy were oogling? This is my 3′rd QSL from XXP, thank ya!

Next in are two QSL’s from WEAK Radio, including one for his test broadcast last week on 6928 kHz. He didn’t ‘think’ anyone would hear it. As a fellow thinking man, he should have figured that the amazing Perseus dirft net hears all WEAK signals! This makes QSL’s #13 and #14 from WEAK Radio, my best tally from any of the pirates so far! Thanks WEAK, I really appreciate all that you do!

I received this QSL from Radio Ga-Ga for last night’s show, which happened to be sent at the exact same time as the WEAK email with QSLs! Great minds think alike. Ward, Cleaver of the Beaver. This is QSL # 11 from Radio Ga-Ga, thanks DJ!

Next on the list is this QSL from Outhouse Radio, featuring a nudie she-feline kitty! Evil Monkey really liked this one… This is Outhouse Radio QSL #5 added to the QSL album, thank you Mr. Outhouse!

WTPR, World Monkey Domination Radio, CHKN relays, 6913.54 AM, 2305 – weak signal with WTPR programming, in the clear with WYFR having transmitter problems on 6915 kHz and off air. World Monkey Domination Radio programming at 2325 UTC.

Your Right To Know Radio, 6951.9v LSB, 2355 – not too good of a signal this evening, instrumental You Are My Sunshine, talking about government and rights, ID at 0003 UTC.

Radio Ga-Ga, 6925 USB, 0022 – SSTV image, Running With the Devil, Fly Like An Eagle. Final SSTV at 0038 UTC, ID, good weekend wishes and off. You too Radio Ga-Ga!

Voice of Honor, 6925 USB, 0054 – weak signal with noise, but understandable. On with ID, Glory Days, Bad to the Bone, Reeling In The Years. Good to hear the Voice of Honor back on! Major QRM from another station coming on the frequency with Bilbo Baggins and lots of Palin, Bush and McCain audio clips.

M-A-C Shortwave, 6850.8 AM, 0105 – noisy signal so far, Paul Starr hosting. 0145 re-check, coming in well with Ultraman!! I Need You and If I Fell by the Beatles, “Strange Things Are Happening” song

KUSA, 6925 USB, 0144 – poor to fair signal, song Some Gave All song then “KUSA North America” ID (audio clip)
then silent. Back at 0154 UTC at a lower level with unid song, song Freedom Is Not Free then another “KUSA North America” ID at 0201 UTC.

Dead Cat Radio, 6925 USB, 0205 – Good signal! Ruby Tuesday, “Hunting Wabbits”, Gimme Shelter then off for a few minutes. Noticed DCR was back at 0226 playing Spirit, Redrum from The Shining, Pirate Radio Song.

Voice of KAOS, 6925 USB, 0300 – Keep On Rocking Me Baby, Can’t Get Enough of Your Love. “You are tuned to the Voice of KAOS..” ID into Behind Blue Eyes, Born To Run. QRM from an unidentified station from 0319 until clear at 0324 with Voice of KAOS ID, Man from UNCLE theme and off at 0325 UTC.

Doh, fell asleep early last night! I have lots more loggings to harvest from the Perseus ‘dirft net’.

QSLs It is a nice holiday, no work and two QSLs have already arrived making the QSL Album fat. Make that that three QSLs today!

Hah, a really cool QSL here from the Voice of KAOS, v6 is his series. This is the third different Voice of KAOS eQSL design that I received. KAOS mentioned perhaps another transmission this weekend, so maybe I can catch it I can talk him into sending me one of the older versions.

The second QSL of the day is from Radio Casablanca, the fifth design of their series. Fortunately, I have the complete series in the QSL Album. Rick advised there may be one more QSL in this series yet to come.

The third QSL is from Outhouse Radio, which makes my 4′th QSL from him. Is that your hot rod, hah?!
